It’s almost a nursery!

by Christi on March 31, 2010

We’ve had a busy few days (do I say that every time?).    Poor “L” fell yesterday, and had to go in to the hospital for a few hours of monitoring, just to make sure that both she and baby were safe (they were fine thankfully).   While I was sad that she had to spend a few hours in a hospital bed (and not eating or drinking in case they had to operate), but it was so nice chatting with her.   She’s such an awesome person.    Honestly I never thought we’d ever get the chance to adopt (it’s not an easy road and there are no promises) but to have the chance, and to have it be with L & M is just beyond what I could have dreamed of.    Not only are we being blessed with adoption, we are being blessed with having these amazing people in our lives.

Tonight’s big excitement is the progress in the nursery.   Rick is putting the crib together as we speak (yay!!!) and yesterday we found the BEST deal yesterday.  I have wanted an upholstered glider or rocker ever since Bella was a baby, but could in no way justify the expense.   But I’ve been looking, researching and dreaming about them lately.   I’ve also been stalking Craigslist.  And yesterday I found a “the deal”.  A Best Chair Company upholstered glider, in pristine condition (only sat in a few times) for $35!   WOOHOO!   And in a color that was perfect for the room.   I’m ridiculously excited about that darn chair.   :)

Time to wrap up my rambling as I’m crazy tired (sure there is a lot more of that in my future).   A few pics of the nursery – so happy with it – and SO thankful for all the people who have helped us out and passed things along to us.  We appreciate it more than I could ever say.

Adding in some pink…

by Christi on March 29, 2010

So a few people think I’m a bit crazy with the blue room for a girl – but it won’t be just blue, the pink is coming!   Here’s a peek at the nightstand Rick painted pink yesterday – love it!     The photo isn’t the best (taken with the phone) but you can get the idea.   Can’t wait to start putting everything together – now I just need to stalk the UPS man for things like my crib (which, weighing 70 pounds and coming via UPS ground, should arrive by the time the baby is 18 months old).

Long Day Done

by Christi on March 28, 2010

Long day is coming to a close.  Well, not the laundry portion of our program, but the other parts.   Dance competition done – Bella did an AMAZING job, I’m so proud of her.  She’s such a pro on stage!    She has so much fun and seeing the pride she has in herself when she comes off stage makes it all worth it.

Trying to get more baby stuff ready – I actually packed a bag (though I’m sure it’s lacking a lot of things, but it’s at least started) and Rick painted the nightstand pink today – soooo cute.   Hopefully tomorrow night it will be dry and we can put it in the room.  Not the world’s greatest paint job, but for a free nightstand and two cans of spray paint, I think it’s going to be darling and unique.

Time to move the laundry.  Fun fun!

Grace’s Nursery

by Christi on March 27, 2010

Winding down from a long day, I feel like attempting to organize my ideas for the nursery.   Normally I agonize over every little detail, and moving as quick as we are, I can’t do that.  Truth be told that’s probably a GOOD thing, and honestly I’m enjoying it.   But, I need to get all my ideas together, so here we go….

Room…

Nursery Today!

Crib…

Crib Bedding (I’m a lucky lucky girl and two friends are hooking me up with adorable bedding)

And this…

Glider…

Floor Rug…

We received a hand me down nightstand from a friend.  It’s white, but we were thinking that it would be super cute if we painted it pink.  We’ll see if we have the energy to do that.  But how cute it would be!

Since we don’t have a dresser, and I’d really like to take my time to hunt down a real wood one on Craigslist, we may just get a white Ikea Expedit bookcase and some cute baskets and containers and use it for storage.

I need some cute butterflies or flowers to hang up - we did this in Bella’s room before she was born and I still love them (and they went to her new room with her).

My friend who is a photographer carries the most beautiful, whimsical fun picture frames, and I can’t wait to get a few (with some of her amazing photos in them of course!)

Probably some wall letters with her name…

These tissue pom poms are SO cute.  Need to figure out how to make them…

That’s about all I’ve got for now!   :)
