The cuteness continues…

by Christi on April 27, 2010

It doesn’t suck to have a friend who will babysit AND happens to be an amazing newborn and family photographer.   My friend Meggan watched Miss Gracie for us Saturday afternoon so Rick could come see Bella compete her dances.   Not only did Grace get snuggles, she was able to continue her gig as an adorable baby  model…

Still Here

by Christi on April 27, 2010

I haven’t disappeared, just been busy doing the new (big yawn) mom thing.  :)    Grace is doing well, we just need to get her to figure out that night time is really boring and that it’s a fantastic time to sleep.   I keep telling her but clearly she’s not buying it.

Bella had her last dance competition of the season this past weekend, and I have to say I’m all too ready for a break.   We still have recital, but we have a good six weeks to rest up until it’s here.  YAY!

Speaking of Bella, I have to share the gorgeous photo my friend Meggan captured of her…

Gorgeous.   I can’t believe how fast she’s growing up.  Blink of an eye – just yesterday she was Grace’s size!   She’s amazing.

I hope to be back in the groove soon, back here blogging and getting up some profiles of some great families who are hoping to adopt.   I’m excited to help them spread the word and hope that they can both be blessed through adoption this year – we will be revamping our adoption website to help spotlight other families.    I also have quite a few adoption resources and marketing info I’m hoping to get up here soon.   My jewelry business, Sentimental Silver,  is always busy right before Mother’s Day, so right now I’m trying to get everyone’s order filled and out the door in time.  Well, that and just generally trying to not fall asleep in the school pick up line each afternoon.  :)

Adoption Baby Shower

by Christi on April 17, 2010

A few days before Grace arrived, our wonderful “dance family” threw us a surprise adoption baby shower.   It was very thoughtful and kind of them.   I was a little worried because I can be a bit superstitious and didn’t want to jinx anything, because with adoption, until it’s all said and done, you just don’t know.   Anyways, it was a great afternoon with great food, friends and lots and lots of gifts, for both Grace and Bella.

I know I’ve heard some people over the past year wonder if you have a shower for someone who is adopting a child.  Of course!!!!   Though I think most people wait until after the adoption, either way, as an adoptive mother, it was wonderful to have so many people celebrating with you.

My Dancing Daughter

by Christi on April 17, 2010

My daughter dances.  A lot.  Dance.  Perform.  Compete.  Repeat.  All of my spare time and money (and some not so spare) are spent at a dance studio.  And she LOVES it.   She’s a very active girl with an overabundance of energy and intensity, and dancing is a wonderful outlet for her.  She has been with her dance studio since she was two years old, so it is really a home away from home for her and an extended family for all of us.  We are coming to the end of our current dance season, which means her current dances will soon be retired.  She will compete them one more time next weekend, and perform them one last time at her recital in June, and than we start all over again.

Here are a few pics from her recent competition…
