Blog… long time no see!

by Christi on June 26, 2010

Wow, I can’t believe how long it’s been since I’ve posted ~ almost two months!   We’ll think of it as blog maternity leave.   The past few months have been great – but busy busy busy!   I think we are starting to return to somewhat of a normal routine, or should I say we are getting into the groove of a new one.   Gracie is an absolute doll, and growing and changing so fast.   Bella has finished up first grade, wrapped up a fabulous dance season and just got a sassy new “big girl” hair cut.   Life is good.

We have a few more busy weeks which include gymnastics camp for Bella, more drooling and attempted thumb sucking for Gracie, a trip up to Pinetop and than Bella’s surgery.   After B’s surgery we will be laying low for a while, she’ll be on a liquid diet for 10 days, than a soft diet for another ten days, and very limited activity the entire time.  No swim.  No dance.   It will be a challenging three weeks.   I am in no way looking forward to it (can we say DREAD?) but one month from now it will be behind us (and she’ll be starting the soft food phase of her recovery – something I’m guessing she will be VERY happy about).

Lots of great photos to catch up on, let’s see if WordPress wants to play nice and let me post them.  :)

Cute video from dress rehearsal (wondering why I didn’t take more videos, but at least I got one!)

We must have some Gracie cuteness – she is SO adorable and is getting to be so smiley.   I think it’s safe to say that even at two months of age, she knows she’s cute.

And Bella’s new haircut (which she is VERY excited about)

That pretty much brings us up to date!   Hopefully it won’t be two months before I update again!  :)

Adoption Baby Shower

by Christi on April 17, 2010

A few days before Grace arrived, our wonderful “dance family” threw us a surprise adoption baby shower.   It was very thoughtful and kind of them.   I was a little worried because I can be a bit superstitious and didn’t want to jinx anything, because with adoption, until it’s all said and done, you just don’t know.   Anyways, it was a great afternoon with great food, friends and lots and lots of gifts, for both Grace and Bella.

I know I’ve heard some people over the past year wonder if you have a shower for someone who is adopting a child.  Of course!!!!   Though I think most people wait until after the adoption, either way, as an adoptive mother, it was wonderful to have so many people celebrating with you.

My Dancing Daughter

by Christi on April 17, 2010

My daughter dances.  A lot.  Dance.  Perform.  Compete.  Repeat.  All of my spare time and money (and some not so spare) are spent at a dance studio.  And she LOVES it.   She’s a very active girl with an overabundance of energy and intensity, and dancing is a wonderful outlet for her.  She has been with her dance studio since she was two years old, so it is really a home away from home for her and an extended family for all of us.  We are coming to the end of our current dance season, which means her current dances will soon be retired.  She will compete them one more time next weekend, and perform them one last time at her recital in June, and than we start all over again.

Here are a few pics from her recent competition…

A long but fun weekend…

by Christi on January 24, 2010

We had a loooooong weekend.   Long but fun.  Bella had a dance competition out in Gilbert that kept us busy all day on Saturday.   She did great – her duet got a High Gold, her solo got a High Gold, her group number got a Platinum, and was also awarded the “Way Too Cute” award and placed 5th overall in the 8 and under small group category.  Not too shabby!

This morning we met with a local adoption agency that works with Korea.   They had a particular little boy for us to learn about, and I think we both felt right away that it wasn’t the right fit for us.   There were a lot of issues that turned out to be bigger than we were told about.   But I think every part of this process is a step in the direction we need to go.   Maybe learning what isn’t right helps lead us to what is right.

This afternoon we were able to go celebrate our niece Molly’s first birthday.  She’s so cute, and just started walking – which is SUCH an adorable age.   I think she had a great time at her party with her friends and cousins.   Unfortunately I forgot my camera, so I didn’t get any shots of the birthday girl.  :(    I’m usually good about keeping my camera in my purse, but left it sitting on my desk.

Here are some pictures from Bella’s competition…
